amanda jane jones instagram photos 01

Yesterday we said goodbye to our little home in Ann Arbor. I always feel melancholy when we leave our home behind whether it be for a weekend or for a whole summer. Now we're in Idaho with Cree's family for family reunion in the mountains. Looking forward to some fresh mountain air!

PS. In a week and a half, we'll be in Geneva!! (we still don't have housing, but we have high hopes that all will work out in the end.)

PPS. I'm on instagram now! and I love it. My user name is @amandajanejones, so feel free to follow along! We're excited to document our European summer using the Visual Supply Co Cam app. Have you tried it yet? We love it. All of the above photos were taken and edited with it.

  2. Love this collage of photos! I recently downloaded the app after figuring out that's what all the #vscocam tags meant! It's taking some getting used to - but I love the photos! Do you have any "recipes" that have been working well or do you just play around?

  14. Good luck finding a home in Geneva, it's a tough place, but be open to live on the outside, even Lausanne, and you will definitely find a nice place!
I'm gonna be in Switzerland in July, if you need a guide and translator :-)

PS: make sure you go to Coop and buy some Ragusa chocolate when you get there, and some tresse (bread) mmmhhh

  15. I am so excited you are going to Switzerland. :) There's definitely loads of things to do, and you are going during one of the best times of the year. (I'm biased, being Swiss, all seasons are great to me, but I travel back with my bf every year, and summer has been the best so far in terms of all the things to see and do.)

Ok, so I meant to add this to your post from a couple of months ago, but I forgot. Beyond the mountains (a must- of course) Zurich, of course, is a must. (So is Lucerne, Basel, and the Ticino...) Be sure to try the Swiss version of a macaron: http://collection.spruengli.ch/luxemburgerli.php?lang=en&cat (a specialty of Zurich)
In Zurich they have free bikes you can ride around town with, I'm not sure about Geneva, but I would think they might.

If you are going to go to the Italian part of Switzerland (the Ticino), I highly recommend going by train, and renting a bike at the train station - I forgot the name of the station to stop at, but if you really consider going, just email me, and I'll check with my dad - it's about a 2 hour or so down the mountain ride, and it's really beautiful. Along rivers, through small mountain towns...truly a wonderful experience. When you are down the mountain you can drop the bike back off at the train station, and hop back on the train to explore another town, or stay in the one you end up in and explore some more.

Also, August 1st is Swiss National day that includes fireworks, of course, but a trend in recent years that is not to be missed is that many farmer's have "farmer's breakfast/brunches" on that day. Made from scratch breads, eggs etc.... it's wonderful, and I highly recommend not missing it.

Definitely stop by a flea market if you get the chance.

I have a thousand more recommendations, but that is a very good start. If you have any additional questions, or want tips etc, just reply, I'm always happy to share more.

Off to add you on instagram. :)

Have a great time in Idaho, and a spectacular time in Switzerland/Europe. :)

  22. it's so hard to believe these are instagrams. they have so much detail and hold so much magic that it looks like something a canon 5d mark ii would do! {my-oh-my, i'm such a nerd}. but seriously. fantabulous photos, and i'm sure that of all the memories you made in ann arbor, you'll make millions more in idaho. :))
