Yesterday, Cree and I were able to go out with the researchers to the very small villages on the coast. What a day! Because I don't speak the language, I mostly just smiled and took lots of photos. The people were so welcoming and kind. Everywhere we went they gave us food...coconuts, pineapple, nuts, bananas, mangos! They handed me the pineapple by holding it by the leaves. I grabbed the base and within seconds my hands were covered with hundreds of fire ants. My hands were throbbing. Now I know. When someone gives you a pineapple, hold it by the leaves. Live and learn.

The photos above are of Cree and the other researchers. The top one was taken during an interview. The children were adorable. Many many more photos to come.
